Learn about #RecordsAndCharts |
😕 What's going on here? Is this website free or not??
👴 #RecordsAndCharts is free to try, $5.00 per month to buy.
There is no free version or free registration.
😒 I'm not sending money to a greedy corporation!
👴 #RecordsAndCharts is family-owned and operated and non-profit. All payments
received are earmarked for the current expenses and future development of this website. We're not funded
by any of the tech giants and we frequently use our own personal money to keep this thing afloat.
Not to mention we do all the work. So, if you're too stubborn to sign up, then you are only punishing yourself.
😝 Oh come on, I can get this information anywhere!
👴 Yup that's true. We don't claim to have any secrets data sources. Everything
you find at #RecordsAndCharts is derived from a variety of sources available to anyone. However, we've compiled
and presented this data to you in a way that will save you a lot of time and aggravation.
Smart researchers consider their time to be as valuable as their money.
😖 How about if you just put up some ads, that would pay for things, right?
👴 Maybe it would, but we prefer our pages to execute quickly, cleanly and error-free. Don't you?
» #RecordsAndCharts is and always will be ad-free. Or would you rather see
web pages that are all cluttered up with resource-hogging ads? Those types of pages will
frequently freeze up and you won't even see the content you clicked in for! Nobody wants that, it's ridiculous.
😭 I'm a starving student, does #RecordsAndCharts care about
the educational community? 👴 #RecordsAndCharts is
highly educational!, but sorry we offer no discounts for students, educators or anyone else
who thinks they're entitled to free services. #RecordsAndCharts is available for personal, academic or
commercial use. We treat everyone the same.
😤 Can I download the database? Can I download the charts?
👴 Sponsoring #RecordsAndCharts does not include an offline
version of our charts (or any other pages), or a copy of the underlying database. Furthermore,
we won't export subsets of the database and send it to you in a spreadsheet. Legitimate research
is welcomed. Duplicating this website or any of it's pages is not considered legitimate. Please
don't underestimate our ability to secure this web site.
😎 So what do I get for my thirty dollars?
👴 You'll get a password valid for 6 months which allows up to 200 page views per day
and technical support if you need it. There are no hidden features that are unlocked for sponsors.
» 200 unique pages can be viewed in a 24-hour period. That's way more
than enough for most people. This limit will not be increased for anyone for any reason. Technical support refers to
help using this site to it's fullest potential. We won't do your work for you or create custom features for you.
Q:
Which singles charts are complete and which are still unfinished and which new ones might be started?
You'll find a complete series from beginning to today for:
Hot 100, Alternative, Mainstream Rock, Adult Contemporary,
Mainstream Top 40 (aka Pop Songs) Radio Songs, Hot Country, Adult Alternative, Adult Top 40 (aka Adult Pop), R&B/Hip Hip and Dance Club.
Pre-Hot 100 charts that were discontinued [Best Sellers In Stores,
Most Played in Jukeboxes and Most Played by Jockeys] are also complete.
[We have these labelled as Pop (Best Sellers), Pop (Jukeboxes) and Pop (Jockeys)].
We also have two defunct charts - Cashbox (1944 to 1996) and RPM Canada (1964 to 2000).
You won't find a comprehensive Cashbox or RPM Canada chart archive anywhere but here.
We know that some people like to follow our progress.
#RecordsAndCharts is always under construction with new charts added each and every day!
In the country category, we have all the pre-Hot Country (country + western) charts labelled as:
C+W (Best Sellers), C+W (Jukeboxes) and C+W (Jockeys). Cashbox country charts, a series from 1944 to 1996 is also complete.
Hot Christian charts are under construction and should be completed by Spring 2025
We have some exciting news for sponsors: Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts are now being added! We are treating these
charts as an extension to the main chart, e.g. #101 to #125 rather than as a diffrent chart e.g. #1 to #25.
We're reluctant to start new charts since we have some that are still unfinished. But we do know that
#RecordsAndCharts sponsors are mostly older individuals who appreciate music from the 50s and 60s on up to the 90s.
Having a Record World chart archive would be huge, but not likely. The pop charts of English speaking countries such as
Ireland and Australia are being researched. Billboard airplay charts (Country and R&B) have been considered.
If you have an opinion on what we should do next, go ahead and tell us...but
please! don't ask for personal updates. There are no alerts or notifications here, just check this page for the latest info.
Q:
What about album charts?
Top Pop Albums is underway at our sister site: recordsandcharts.com.
[This is a separate service and technically not part of the racpro.com service.]
This is not a discography site
Other music sites will brag about having "millions" of songs. That's not what you want. Our catalog is 20,000 artists and
100,000 popular songs as defined by the weekly music charts that we follow. We believe in quality over quantity.
Q:
Do you need any help? Are there any jobs here?
#RecordsAndCharts is a "mom and pop" type organization with no employees. In the past we've allowed certain individuals to perform
tasks on the site such as inserting lyrics or uploading photos, in exchange for a free password. But we've found that most people
do shoddy work and don't follow instructions well.
Q:
Can I scrape/extract/copy data from this web site?
A: #RecordsAndCharts would be useless if you couldn't take our data and use it in your project.
However, you should only take what you need, and don't be a data glutton. Don't perform systemwide scans or use any
automated or methodical techniques to gather data. We've gone to a lot of trouble to build and secure this web location.
We don't let people (or bots) just waltz in and start saving everything offline.
Q:
Is my e-mail address safe from spam?
A: We only use your e-mail address to open your account. Paypal will provide us with
your name or business name, but we don't even save that in your account record.
At #RecordsAndCharts, you are mostly anonymous, we only know you as an e-mail address
and an ID number. None of your personal information is provided to third parties.
Q:
Can I use my VPN or my anonymous proxy?
All proxies are blocked from using this service. You might think that these so-called security apps keep you safe, but all they
actually do is keep you anonymous. Since we don't allow anonymous access to the site, we don't make any consideration for internet users
who employ such seedy techniques to avoid our payment.
Q:
How do I listen to the songs, or download the songs?
A: #RecordsAndCharts is a metadata resource, not a place to play, or download music.
Q:
Do you have an API?
A: Our API is the backbone of this website but not for direct use by the public.
If we can find a dedicated sponsor, maybe we'll open up our API to the masses.
Q:
I love #RecordsAndCharts work! Can I hire you to work on my project?
A: Yes you can. #RecordsAndCharts is skilled in all types of web and desktop development.
From data-driven websites, like this one, to mobile apps and desktop apps,
technical writing, database design, advanced Excel and Access systems, etc.
#RecordsAndCharts specializes in converting printed material to digital data and
deploying it online as an e-commerce shopping cart or simply an information kiosk.
We're happy to answer your basic questions...Contact
Q:
Are cookies used on this web site?
A: Yes. #RecordsAndCharts doesn't coddle you and ask your permission to accept
cookies like other websites might do. And if you have cookies disabled then you are up to no good.
Q:
Do you have an app?
A: No app is being planned. We try hard to make this web site display properly on any device.
